What is involved with a Comprehensive Paediatric Continence Assessment?

The Comprehensive Paediatric Continence Assessment includes :

  • a detailed interview with you as well as your child (if appropriate) exploring all the different 'pieces of the jigsaw puzzle' that may be impacting on your child's continence including their medical history, medications, their cognition and communication skills, body awareness and sensory needs, behaviours and what incentivizes them, their diet and fluid intake and their levels of independence with toilet tasks.
  • assessment of the toileting environment and equipment used (home and school)
  • provision of age-appropriate resources and education
  • liaison with your child's GP, Paediatrician, Specialist, Allied Health, Community Nurses or preschool/school as required
  • provision of suitable disposable consumable products to trial
  • an updated continence prescription for NDIS or icare
  • detailed formal report which includes recommendations tailored to your child's continence goals and needs (completed within 24 hours)
  • ongoing support whilst all suitable continence supplies are being sourced, and the current continence management recommendations are being established.

Continence Assessments are offered via the telehealth, using the telehealth platform Coviu which is very user friendly.

Every child receives an individualised plan to assist them with their continence goals. Jodie embraces a philosophy of working with your child's own natural physiology that also works in with the routines of the family.  A very positive, supportive and strength-based approach is used to underpin all recommendations from the assessment.
